Can I join if I can't dance?

Of course! Everyone starts from somewhere and after a semester of dancing you may even surprise yourself!

Do I need to bring a partner?

No. Bring friends or come solo! Either way, you'll be switching partners often throughout the lesson.

What do I wear to lessons?

Dress comfortably. Most people wear casual or athletic clothing but there is no dress code. Closed toed shoes or shoes with a heel strap are recommended. Many women wear salsa heels. However, they are not necessary.

What is the typical lesson like?

The typical lesson includes a warm-up led by an instructor followed by a lesson led by one or two couples. After the warm-up the group is split into circles with an even ratio of leads and follows. Everyone finds a partner to begin but the circle rotates throughout the lesson. There is usually social dancing at the end of the lessons.

How can I practice my skills outside of the lessons?

There are many places to go social dancing in Charlottesville which can be found on the Events page

How much are dues?

Dues are $20 per semester.
