rising 4th year

Who you are and Relevant experience:

Having been part of the club for almost 3 years, I consider everyone in Salsa Club to be my family. The club took me in my first year and helped make UVA my home. I am so thankful for all of the experiences I have had as a result of the club. From showcase to salsa parties to SalsaFest, I enjoy every event and the chances to meet to new salseros/as.
I would love to represent the club as President. Having been a member of a dance, a choreographer, an instructor, and the club's Events Coordinator, I feel as though I have had experience in all aspects of the club. I would love to help next year's exec board in each and every club event organized, and I feel like I would be able to do so as President.
Through my role as Events Coordinator, I organized both SalsaFest and Salsa Ball. Having worked with 8 instructors, a DJ, and 5 event committee chairs to put on SalsaFest, I feel as though I have a good understanding of how to organize many individuals and stay on top of everything in order to put on a great event. Additionally, having been in showcase twice and having choreographed twice, I feel as though I have a lot of experience working with choreographers and dancers and could help next year's artistic director make future showcases the best ones yet. I have also worked with this year's Treasurer (Hector) and feel as though I have a good understanding of both the funding application process and the reimbursement process. I think that I could help the incoming Treasurer with those aspects of his or her role.
My goal as President would be to continue bringing in new members to the club, help the club run smoothly and organize new events for club members. I would like for everyone to feel welcomed in the club. I plan to work with the social chair to create more bonding events for the club. I would also like to continue to grow Weeklies and give club members more chances to learn new skills. Lastly, I would love to make social dancing an integral part of the club, encouraging members of all levels to participate, and help bring Charlottesville residents and club members together.
I would love to have the opportunity to represent the club as President and help the incoming exec board make next year's salsa club the best one yet. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out to me at lca7gt@virginia.edu. Thank you for your time and consideration :)
