rising 4th year

Position:

Events Coordinator

WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE A PART OF THE UNIVERSITY SALSA CLUB EXECUTIVE BOARD?

Being part of the University Salsa Club Executive Board would give me the opportunity to give back to the club. I would love to help make the experience of all members even better than it already is. Given the position I’m applying for, Events Coordinator, I plan to help members participate in the social dancing scene outside the club. This would include coordinating trips to social dancing in Charlottesville, DC, and other venues in Virginia. I would also like to facilitate the access to professional instructors for our members.

HOW DO YOUR TALENTS OR ABILITIES MAKE YOU WELL-EQUIPPED FOR YOUR DESIRED POSITION?

Planning and organization are two of my strengths. In the two dances I choreographed in the club I took care of scheduling, and reservation of facilities. During my time with DNC2BEAT I took care of traveling arrangements which included: coming up with trip budgets, hotel reservations and communicating details to members of the team.

During the year I stepped out of the University I had the opportunity to visit, dance and perform at different venues in Virginia (The Salsa Room, Mambo Room, DC Bachata Congress and others). While visiting different venues I had the opportunity to meet instructors, dancers and directors from various dance companies.

I believe my experience has prepared me and given me the tools necessary to be Events Coordinator.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF TO SOMEONE WHO DID NOT KNOW YOU?

I’m a very fun and energetic person who spends most of his day listening to bachata music. I have been in the club for 6 semesters now, choreographed two dances and have been an instructor in past. In case it’s not clear, I LOVE DANCING, and inspiring people to dance.
