The University Salsa Club holds a showcase each semester to share our members’ progress!! The event features student-choreographed performances in various Latin styles and levels. Past years have featured dances in salsa, bachata, cha cha, rueda, samba, and more!

Each semester, we hold auditions for our members to be placed into showcase dances choreographed by some of our advanced members. Our auditions are open to any dues-paying member, and we do our best to provide everyone who auditions with opportunities to be in the showcase!

Choreographers select dancers at auditions and then teach these dancers (typically groups of 8-10 total) a choreographed dance throughout the semester. These groups become close friends and spend the semester developing their skills together! Each Salsa Club semester concludes with two days of showcase performances where these groups get to show what they have been working on all semester!! Be prepared for lots of shimmies, body rolls, tricks, and smiles!

Although this organization has members who are University of Virginia students and may have University employees associated or engaged in its activities and affairs, the organization is not a part of or an agency of the University. It is a separate and independent organization which is responsible for and manages its own activities and affairs.
